Event Cancellations – Award Nominations

Thank you for submitting an award application for the 2017 STEM Education Day.  Please read below for information concerning the cancelation of this year’s event. We are happy to refund your money, or you are welcome to donate your registration fee to support Houston area STEM classroom teachers who lost materials in Harvey.

In light of the impact felt throughout the greater Houston area from Hurricane Harvey, the STEM Education Day Committee has decided to cancel the 2017 event.  The committee thoughtfully weighed all aspects of holding the event and collectively decided the PK-16 educators will want and need to focus wholeheartedly on investing the maximum amount of time on campus with their students.

Due to the generous support of our corporate sponsors, the funds donated to support the STEM Education Day event will be divided among and distributed to select impacted greater Houston school district foundations. Additionally, we invite those who have already registered for this event to donate their registration fee to support this initiative. We will request that all funds are distributed directly to classroom teachers to replace damaged STEM resources. Once the funds are distributed, we will request data from the district foundations to indicate the number of teachers who received funds and the number of students who will benefit from the donation. A complete list of recipients and photos will be available at http://stemtx.org/  by the end of October.
