Host Your Own STEM Event

Your campus, company or organization can show its support of Texas STEM education by hosting your own STEM-centered event that provides participants with a look into the importance and impact of strong science, technology, engineering and mathematics education on young people. Here are a few ideas for your special “ Celebration of STEM Education in Texas (CSEWT) ” event:

K-12 Campuses

  • Awards Event: honor Educators, Media, Community Members, Industry Leaders, etc. for their contributions to STEM
  • Panel discussion on importance of STEM
  • Career Day: Invite STEM professionals to speak to students
  • STEM Expo: Provide a venue for students, educators, and/or industry members to showcase projects
  • Robotics Show
  • STEM themed Art Competition
  • STEM themed Essay/Poetry Contest
  • STEM themed Classroom/Door Decorating Contest
  • STEM Pep Rally
  • Campus-wide interdisciplinary STEM Day/Week: show how all content areas connect to STEM
  • STEM Business Breakfast – invite local STEM businesses to a school sponsored breakfast where ideas about how to further STEM education can be exchanged
  • Thank You For Supporting STEM” Card Project :Engage students of all ages in a thank you card project; these hand-made cards can be sent to those in higher education, industry and government that support STEM education

Universities, Colleges, Collegiate-level STEM Centers

  • Awards Event: honor Educators, Media, Community Members, Industry Leaders, etc. for their contributions to STEM
  • Tour of your STEM related office or facility

  • Organizing a Rally or Walk/Run for STEM: can function as a fundraising event or simply an awareness event and feature keynote speakers, STEM demos, etc…

STEM Businesses/Industry

  • Tour of your STEM related office or facility
  • STEM Career Day: can be held at your offices or at a local school
  • Adopt a School: partner with a school in your area and host events and/or create opportunities to increase the awareness of the importance of STEM education in schools
  • Being a CSEWT Partner or Sponsor: visit the Sponsor page (Click here for sponsorship information) to learn how you can make an overall donation; register exhibit booth space for your company during the STEM Education Day on Friday, May 2nd
  • Finding/Being a Volunteer(s)
  • Serving as a panelist during one of our featured events on STEM Education Day (April 28, 2016)
  • Organizing a Rally or Walk/Run for STEM: can function as a fundraising event or simply an awareness event and feature keynote speakers, STEM demos, etc…

Elected & Appointed Officials

  • Proclamations: recognizing April 24 – 30, 2016 as “Celebration of STEM Education Week” in your city or municipality (2016 CSEWT Sample Proclamation)
  • Giving Senate or House proclamation or recognitions (2016 CSEWT Sample Proclamation for sample proclamation language) for STEM-related schools and businesses as requested
  • Serving as a panelist during one of our featured events on STEM Education Day (April 28, 2016), or participating in official CSEWT events being held in your city, municipality or district (Click here to see the list of official CSEWT events)
  • Becoming a Name Sponsor: allowing the CSEWT Steering Committee to list your name and office on our website as an official supporter of “Celebration of STEM Education Week in Texas”. 
  • Sending a pre-recorded message of congratulations or encouragement to be played at local CSEWT events that are listed on this website. (Click here to see the list of official CSEWT events)

Media 

  • Public Service Show or Print Interview: Students, teachers and CSEWT committee members can be guests on any public service show available as well as be interviewed for print publications to offer an overview of their projects as well as some exciting student-led science demos
  • PSAs: Offering free 15 or 20 second PSAs to participating schools wishing to promote their CSEWT event.
  • Providing personalities to serve as emcees, moderators, panelists, etc… for local CSEWT events that are listed on this website.

Be an official STEM Supporter by Listing Your Event on the CSEWT website

  • Once you’ve planned your event, visit the “Celebration of STEM Education Week in Texas” website and click on CSEWT Event Schedule to list your school/organization/company STEM event.
  • Once you’ve registered yourself/your organization, click on “Submit Event” under the Meta menu on the right side of the web page
